The New Mexico Rifle Hunts - 2017
No bear hunting after October 15th. Deer are on a draw which was 100% in 2015. I’ll send all deer hunters a deer application in March 2017.

I have no elk draw hunts (Unit 4) in New Mexico. Elk tags are obtained by guaranteed landowner permits which I supply as part of the cost of the hunt, but hunters still must purchase an elk license. Bear licenses are over-the-counter, but must be purchased 48 hours before hunting. No bear hunting after October 15th. Deer are on a draw which was 100% in 2015. I’ll send all deer hunters a deer application in March 2017. Tentative non-resident license prices for 2015: Elk-$555, Mule deer-$290, Bear-$260, Antelope-$290, Cow-Elk $354. Additionally, all hunters must purchase a small game hunting license for an additional $65.
Rifle Bull Elk Hunts - October 2017
October 4-8, 12-16, 21-25, and October 28 - November 1
1x1 $6,950 or 2x1 $6,450 plus licenses
The October hunts book-up first, mostly for aesthetic reasons. The weather is mostly mild, the leaves are changing and the bulls are bugling! October is usually not our best month success wise, but you do hedge your bet that you will have a good hunt, because it is the least weather-reliant month.
Combo Rifle Bull Elk & Buck Mule Deer Hunts - 2017
October 21-25 and October 28-November 1
1x1 $7,950 and 2x1 $7,450 Plus licences
Our October combo hunts are very popular two species hunts, as it only costs $1,000 extra to hunt the mule deer. We have some very good mule deer, with a 175 + reasonable expectation. The normal success on deer is about 50% on both weeks. The elk hunting on these weeks has our normal 80% success rate. Your deer tag is guaranteed through a landowner-sponsored draw, but you must apply online, and there is a finite March deadline.
Rifle Bull Elk Hunts - November 2017
November 6-10, 14-18 and November 28-December 2
1x1 $6,600 and 2x1 $6,100
November is the migration season. We lease significant acreage on all three of the migration corridors that traverse Unit 4. These hunts are more weather dependent than any other month, but the herd bulls move through these corridors on a biological migration in November. When you catch the weather, it is the “Discovery Channel” for elk. Over the past ten seasons November has not only had the highest percentage of success, but some of the largest bulls too.
Rifle Bull Elk Hunts - December 2017
December 7-11, 15-19, and 27-31
1x1 $6,600 and 2x1 $6,100
December is normally a cold, snowy month. Our leases not only are on the migration corridors, we also have significant winter range habitat. This is why, in two of the last three seasons, December has been our highest success month, and has produced some of our best bulls of the season. Often, I can accommodate late booking clients on these high success hunts.
